Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Amarillo Convention and Visitor Bureau do?
The Amarillo Convention and Visitor Bureau promotes a tourism experience along Interstate 40 and Interstate 27 in the Texas Panhandle that combines western heritage, Route 66 nostalgia, outdoor majesty (including the nation's second-largest canyon), and an exhilarating arts community along with over 6,000 hotel rooms.
What types of events and activities need volunteers?
The Amarillo Convention and Visitor Bureau is committed to providing an outstanding experience to visitors in our city. We work with many different groups to host events and conventions, as well as give leisure travelers as much information as they need to create lasting memories on their trip. Volunteer opportunities include (but are not limited to) greeting visitors at the information kiosk in the Rick Husband International Airport, helping conventions register their delegates, and being a welcoming face at events.
What should volunteers wear?
Attire will depend on the event, and you will be advised by CVB staff when we reach out to you with the opportunity. Volunteers will always be given a name badge to wear and should wear comfortable shoes.
How/When will I be contacted?
Once you submit a volunteer form, we will acknowledge that we received it. When an opportunity arises, we will reach out with the contact method specified to see if you'd like to participate.
Will I receive training?
Yes! Some opportunities will require more training than others. CVB staff will ensure that you are comfortable with the position before we set you loose.
