Traveling down Route 66 has become synonymous with the American dream. Most people know about this classic road trip, but not everyone has experienced it. Here at the Texas Route 66 Visitor Center, we are dedicated to preserving the experience of the Mother Road.
We aim to preserve the legacy of Route 66 through souvenirs and unique gifts representing the people and places that make it iconic.
Our location is the historic Myers Fried Chicken Restaurant at 1900 SW 6th Ave. One of Amarillo's most historic and iconic restaurants for over 20 years from about 1948 - around 1968. In the heyday of Route 66, Myers was open 24/7, 365 days a year to serve the travelers of this famous roadway. We are proud of our local history and all of the history along Route 66.
