Don't miss the Championship Roughstock Challenge at the Amarillo National Center at 7:30 p.m. This hybrid rodeo features all the roughstock events- bull riding, bareback riding and saddle bronc riding- in one evening. Some fans think these are the most exciting rodeo events.
The competition will feature PBR, CBR and PRCA riders and stock. Each event is an 8 second battle between the rider and some of the best animals in the roughstock rodeo field. Half the score is from the cowboy's ability to ride well and the other half from the animal's bucking performance. Like dancing, one partner leads (the animal) and the other partner follows (the rider). Rider and animal are paired by the luck of the draw.
A highlight will be the appearance of riders from last month's National Junior Bull Riding Association competition in Amarillo making their first professional rides during the Championship Roughstock Challenge.
This event is the Amarillo stop of the PRS (Professional Rough Stock) series.
All tickets are $18 and children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at PanhandleTickets.com or at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex box office and United Supermarkets, or call 806-378-3096 to reserve some tickets. And keep up with the latest news on Facebook at Championship Roughstock Challenge.
Roughstock competition photos are available on request.
