Amarillo artist Cale Rogers, selected to exhibit nine pieces of his artwork at the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport from March - June, 2016, has sold his painting called Earworm.

The Houston buyer recently noticed Amarillo's Airport Art Program on the wall to the left of the entrance to the TSA screening area. The buyer contacted Rogers to purchase Earworm and get information about more of his work. This is the first piece of artwork sold during one of these airport displays.

Rogers' artwork is acrylic on canvas and painted parts on wood. In addition to Earworm his exhibit includes Cat and Mouse, Fish, Iron Bell, How to Sing, I Can Still Dream, No End, Fall of Adam and And? You may view other works on his website. Traffic to Roger's website has substantially increased due to this sale and the display of his other artwork in the Airport Art Program.

"This is not a promotion of just one artist. The rotation of artists will give airport travelers an opportunity to see a wide variety of work," Rogers said. "Amarillo is loaded with talented artists and arts entities."

In addition to being an artist, Rogers works at Suddenlink Communications.

The Airport Art Program is sponsored by the Amarillo Convention and Visitors Bureau Arts Committee and the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. Thanks to Sara Freese of the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport and Alex Gregory of the Amarillo Museum of Art for their assistance in hanging each exhibit.

If you are interested in participating in the Airport Art Program and would like to receive an application, please contact Becky Zenor at 806-342-2010 or becky@amarillo-chamber.org.
