Join the staff of the Amarillo Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Texas Travel Information Center next Tuesday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for National Tourism Day.
Visit with more than 20 local attractions and enjoy a variety of entertainment during this rally to highlight the importance of tourism to Amarillo and our area. Why is tourism so important?
More than 1.7 million annual visitors to Amarillo contribute more than $280 million to our local economy.
In 2008 research by the State of Texas, the Amarillo MSA was in the state’s top 10 list of leisure destinations.
Again in 2008, state research lists both Palo Duro Canyon State Park and TEXAS on the state’s top 30 attraction list.
City officials are scheduled to read a proclamation, combined with a ribbon cutting by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, both at 11 a.m. And Texas Department of Transportation officials from Austin will be on site, too.
The rally will be at the Texas Travel Information Center at 9700 E. Interstate 40: take exit 76 for Airport Blvd.
