Summit Award

The most prestigious award is the Summit Award. This is not a category; however, the GNA Jury can suggest that an individual nominee be awarded the Summit Award. It is given to an individual or a couple for their outstanding devotion and support of the fine arts in Amarillo and the surrounding area over a period of years.  It includes meaningful public involvement and personal service as well as generous financial help. It is the most prestigious award. Once you have been awarded the Summit Award, you are not eligible to win another Golden Nail Award.

Nomination Guidelines

  • Nominations may be submitted by anyone; however, the nominator must provide precise and verifiable information supporting the nominations and the Jury Committee cannot consider nominations without such supporting information and not meeting minimum qualifications. No more than three letters of support may be submitted.
  • Multiple nominations of companies or individuals (where two or more have share sponsorship of an art project) are acceptable. Groups and individuals that have supported more than one fine arts organization or project will be considered on a cumulative basis.
  • Nominees must have been active in their support during the calendar years for which the awards are given; however, special considerations have been made. Salaried personnel of art entities are not eligible to win a Golden Nail Award.
  • The Jury cannot make a nomination during the jury meeting. Often the arts entity or individual who made a nomination, has put it in the wrong category; therefore, the Jury can move that nomination to another category.  For example, a nomination in the Individual category can be moved to the Distinguished Volunteer category.
  • Pledged amounts will not be considered for an award. Only actual payments are eligible. The amount paid on the pledge in 2018 is acceptable.
