  • The Painted Buntings, Mississippi Kites, and Bullock's Orioles are back! Join park staff for an early spring morning bird walk in the canyon. Prepare: Dress for the weather, and be sure to layer in case it warms up as we go. Wear hiking boots or sneakers, and bring water to drink. Binoculars and bird guides are useful but not required. This hike is about 1.5 miles in length, and it will be a slow pace on easy terrain. Plan to arrive at the park around 7:00am so you can make it to the hike on time. Meet: At the Soapberry Day Use Area, located on the floor of the canyon just after the first water crossing. Fees: No charge for this program; regular park entrance fees apply ($8 per adult, kids 12 and younger are free).
